PADI Beginners course - Open Water Diver

To be able to move around weightlessly in the 3 dimensional underwater world is probably the closest most of us get to becoming astronauts. Jack Cousteau defined divers as Aquanauts and if you haven’t tried it yet, there is only one way: Jump in!

PADI Open Water Diver kursus in Koh Tao - Thailand:

Signe Sorber and Scandinavian Dive Team have the cure for gravity: Become an PADI OPEN WATER DIVER! Our most popular dive course is an introduction to the amazing underwater world and will bring the participants face to face with big fat Giant Groupers, sea turtles, shoals of colorful tropical fish, barracudas and a lot more. On completion of the OPEN WATER DIVER course, you will be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters with a buddy.

The PADI OPEN WATER DIVER course consists of 3 parts:

• Theory – you will get a manual in your preferred language, video and quizzes. Theory is completed with a final exam.

• Confined/shallow water diving – We are in the ocean from beginning till end, so you quickly get used to the new element. We do the basic skills like for example mask clearing, during an afternoon on the beach.

• Open Water – This is when you get used to the equally important secondary skills such as, staying in contact with your buddy, monitoring air consumption and depth and we also repeat some of the shallow water skills, which mean an even higher mastery of these.

Day 1: 5pm we start with an orientation. We do the necessary paperwork, get the book and watch the first 3 videos. Finished at about 7pm

Day 2: 8.30am We watch the last 2 videos, Get familiar with the equipment and set up, pack our gear, go through your homework, discussions and quizzes. We have a lunch break, and at 12:30 we take the boat to the beach and do our shallow water skills. Finished at about 5pm.

Day 3: 9.00am we go through your homework, The Recreational Dive Planner and do the last quizzes. We complete the theoretical part of the course with the final exam. At 1pm we set out to do our first open water dives to a maximum depth of 12 meters, with an hour’s break in between the dives. Finished at about 5pm.

Day 4: 07:00am we sail out to do our 2 final dives of this course to a maximum depth of 18 meters, with an hour’s break in between dives. Back on shore we log our dives and get certified PADI OPEN WATER DIVERS! Finish at about 12midday.

PADI Continuing Education

hen your basic course is done, it’s time to increase your experience and safety under water. PADI Advanced Open Water in Koh Tao - Thailand:

Learn to dive deeper and increase you experience by doing your Advanced Open Water Diver course.

The purpose of the Advanced Open Water Course, is to fine-tune the abilities you have already acquired during your Open Water Diver Course as well as give you the opportunity to try 5 new ways of diving. One of PADI and SSI’s most popular courses with good reason!
The course consists of:
• Theory – we teach with lectures or book, knowledge reviews and open discussions. There is no exam in this course – everything is founded on practical application.
• 5 dives – 2 mandatory dives and 3 dives of your choice.
The 2 mandatory dives are deep and navigation, since these two abilities obviously are important if you want to dive more independently. Then you have to choose 3 more dives from the following list of Adventure Dives: Dpv (Diver Propulsion Vehicle), Night dive, Video, UW-Photo, UW-Naturalist, Computer dive or Peak Performance Buoyancy. Should any of these hold special interest for you, you can get more in depth knowledge and skill by doing your specialty course.
Our philosophy in regards to the Advanced Open Water Course is to enable you to dive independently. Get on a boat anywhere in the world (in conditions similar to those you have dived in before) listen to a Divemaster briefing, look at a map and proceed to plan your dive in terms of route and dive profile. During your Advanced Open Water course you will get a chance to practice exactly that, supervised and carefully guided by our experienced instructors.
