Information about Similan Islands Liveaboard M/V WESTCOAST EXPLORER
MV Westcoast Explorer is our premier liveaboard and our longest operating boat in the Similan Islands. Season after season it has served us well and continue to provide us with the most relaxed liveaboard experience and our happy divers keep coming back for more. Here is some boat information, just to give you an idea of why we love this boat!
Located on the Upper deck is the Captains cabin and the wheelhouse in front. Behind you will find the dining area, where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, toast, water electrolyte drinks and fresh fruit all day long.
The dining area has a larger table as well as two smaller tables, so you have plenty of room to move around. The sides of the deck are open for a spectacular view of the ocean and islands while you enjoy your meals. Our cousine is very popular among our guests and served buffet style, help yourself! We have a complete library with fish books in different languages, and our diveguides are more than happy to give you loads of information about the marinelife you encountered during your dives. The communal dining area is a great place to hang out between dives, read a book or just relax in the sun.
Our breakfast onboard the Westcoast Explorer is European style: We serve toast, omelettes, fried eggs, sausages, cornflakes and fresh brewed coffee as well as Nescafe. Lunch and dinner are usually traditional Thai coursine - we cater to vegetarians as well. We have TV and DVD player onboard so you can watch your homemade underwater videos, or just relax and watch a good movie in the evening after dinner. You can also plug in your personal MP3 play to our stereo and listen to your favourite music.
On the Main Deck you will find the diving patform and equipment area, where you will have plenty of space to store your unused diving equipment. We have 40 Luxfer 12 ltr Tanks with INT valves, and DIN adapters. 2 Bauer Mariner II compressors with aircooling system and P41 airfilters delivers the highest airquality for your dives. Westcoast Explorers boat crew are always on standby to help put on your scuba diving equipment and assist you when entering and exiting the water. They will refill your tank in place, so all you have to do is enjoy the diving. After each dive you will be picked up by the liveaboard or our dingy, so no long surface swims when you dive with us.
On the Main deck we have the galley where our cook and her assistant prepares all our meals during the trip. Here you also find 3 large shower facilities with toilets, plus two showers on the diveplatform for a quick rinse after each dive.
